Your Guide to the Best LA Beer Week Events in 2018
LA Beer Week is back for 2018 and it’s bigger than ever! From Saturday, June 16th through Sunday, June 24th, LA’s best breweries, craft beer bars, and bottle shops celebrate all things craft with awesome beer festivals, new beer releases, beer dinners, and other unique craft beer experiences.
You can browse through our 60+ LA Beer Week event listings here and filter them by your local neighborhood, but #LABW10 might be over by the time you get through it all. That’s why we compiled our top picks for the best LA Beer Week events in 2018.
Saturday, June 16th
LA Beer Week Kickoff Festival at LA Center Studios
Downtown LA, 12pm
The LA Brewer’s Guild Kickoff Festival is the signature event of Beer Week every year and this year looks to be no different. With live music, great food, and unlimited tastings from over 90 independent local & guest breweries, you’re bound to have one of your best beer days of the year. Plus, we’ll be there with our very own booth featuring our brand new lineup of LA beer merch, so stop by and say hi! You can grab tickets here – we suggest going VIP for the best experience possible.
Hill Farmstead “Florence” Keg Tapping at Mikkeller Bar Bar
Downtown LA, 2pm
Beers from Hill Farmstead are in high demand in these parts, and Florence might be the hottest of the bunch. After the Kickoff fest, they’ll be tapping a keg of the Belgian-inspired wheat ale -first Hill Farmstead keg to ever be tapped in LA. Be a part of the milestone and drink some great rare beer while you’re at it.
Sunday, June 17th
MacLeod is back with their anniversary and cask ale fest at their Van Nuys brewery. There will be 20+ guest casks, British pub fare, live music and souvenir glassware and bottle openers. Not a bad way to spend Father’s Day.
Monday, June 18th
Superstition Meadery vs Bottle Logic Pairing at Mikkeller Bar
Downtown LA, 5pm
The crews from Superstition Meadery and Bottle Logic are bringing out the big guns for a head to head pairing dinner featuring food by Mikkeller. You’re bound to try some beers and meads that you haven’t tried before, plus they’ll be selling select bottles to go. Tickets are $99, buy here.
Tuesday, June 19th
LABW Brewing at Brewyard
Ever wonder what a day in the life of a brewer is like? Well, here’s your chance to get the real experience. Follow along on a brew day at Brewyard Beer Company starting at 7am and get your hands dirty by milling, mashing, hopping, pitching, and cleaning. Tickets are $65 and include snacks, lunch, and a pint. This experience is limited to 25 people, so get your tickets here before they’re sold out.
Craftsman Beer Pairing Dinner at Maximiliano
Highland Park, 6:30pm
Craftsman events with Mark Jilg are hard to come by, but you can always count on something special for LA Beer Week. This year, Craftsman’s unofficial taproom, Maximiliano in Highland Park is hosting a special five course beer pairing dinner. Youc an imagine tickets will go fast for this one, so grab yours now!
Eagle Rock Brewery’s Battle of the Bands at the Hi Hat
Highland Park, 7pm
One of #LAbeer’s favorite LA Beer Week events, the Battle of the Bands, is back and features 10 bands comprised of members from your local neighborhood breweries. And if you didn’t know, we have some pretty talented musicians in the LA brewing community! This event is always a good time and tickets are cheap, so grab them right here. Plus you can walk just a few doors down to The Hermosillo where they’ll be hosting a sidecar party featuring some rad kegs of Modern Times beer.
Wednesday, June 20th
Local Hops with Hopped LA at Tony’s Darts Away
Ok fine, we’re biased on this one, but we haven’t thrown a Beer Week event in a couple years, so we wanted to go all out. We got together with Andrew from Tony’s Darts Away and put together a killer beer list from some of the best hoppy beer producers in LA. We’re talking Hazy IPAs, West Coast IPAs, Hoppy Pilsners, as well as Hopped LApricot, our fruited pale ale collab we brewed with Indie Brewing Co. We’ll also have the Hopped LA pop up shop on location with our brand new lineup of LA beer merch for sale. If you follow Hopped LA at all, come on out, it will be a great night in Burbank!
NorCal Beer Night at The Hermosillo
Highland Park, 5pm
The breweries up in Northern CA keep pumping out some awesome beer, but so much of it never makes it way down south to LA. The Hermosillo is changing all of that for this special LA Beer Week event featuring NorCal breweries, HenHouse Brewing Company, Sante Adairius Rustic Ales, Cooperage Brewing Company, Temescal Brewing, and Social Kitchen and Brewery. If you’re not at our event at Tony’s Darts Away, then head out to Highland Park and check it out!
Thursday, June 21st
Battle of the Guilds 2018 at Naja’s Place
Redondo Beach, 6pm
On Thursday, the annual Battle of the Guilds returns when San Diego makes the trip up, San Francisco makes the trip down, and breweries from each guild battle for the Golden Keg. This is an opportunity to try some of LA’s best beers as well as beers from down south and up north that don’t ever make their way to the LA area. Plus, it’s at Naja’s Place right on the Redondo Harbor, so you can’t really beat that setting. Vote LA!
Get a look behind the curtain from Firestone Walker’s own master blender, Sour Jim! This event includes a presentation on wild ales, a hands-on blending workshop, followed up with a tasting of Agrestic Ale variants. This is a super unique behind the scenes experience, perfect for any sour beer lover. Tickets are $35 and you should grab them while they’re available.
Women-Brewed Beer Tap Takeover at Sunset Beer
Echo Park, 6pm
The female contingent within the LA beer community is getting stronger and stronger and this special event at Sunset Beer Co is here to celebrate that. Enjoy a selection of beers coming from breweries with female brewers including Arrow Lodge, Arts District, Three Weavers, Indie, and Brouwerij West. Head down to Sunset Beer on Thursday and raise a glass to the women in our beer community!
Friday, June 22nd
LABW Backyard BBQ at The Glendale Tap
The Glendale Tap is opening up their patio for a special LABW event featuring Barts BBQ alongside a ridiculous tap list with beers from Beachwood, Bottle Logic, Cellador, El Segundo, Highland Park Brewery, Homage, Moonraker, Pure Project, State and Unsung. What an excellent way to end the work week at The GT!
Fonta Flora Tap Takeover at Mikkeller Bar
Downtown LA, 5pm
Fonta Flora is in from North Carolina and they’ve got a bunch of beers on tap over at Mikkeller. An Appalachian Saison brewed with local beets, an Appalachian Saison with black tea and lemons, a Dry Irish Stout, aWitbier brewed with organic oranges, coriander, and earl grey tea, and a Baltic porter brewed with hickory bark. You do not see these beers in LA!
4th Annual BFE Fest at Wolf Creek Brewery
Santa Clarita, 7pm
BFE Fest is back at Wolf Creek in Santa Clarita to feature 20+ of LA’s best “perimeter” breweries. They’ll also have live music and food trucks as well. Grab your tickets here!
Saturday, June 23rd
Cellarmaker Night at The Hermosillo
Highland Park, 12pm
Another great LA Beer Week event at The Hermosillo – surprise, surprise. This time they’re bringing in the amazing and elusive Cellarmaker Brewing to showcase a lineup of their hoppy beers along with their barrel-aged mixed fermentation offering, and more. These highly coveted beers do not make their way down south very often, so take advantage while you can!
Sour Friends Fest at Cellador Ales
North Hills, 12:30pm
Cellador Ales in North Hills is opening up their doors and inviting over some friends for a little party celebrating some of the best sour beers you can find in Southern CA. This event will feature beers from Cellador (obviously), along witih Beachwood Blendery, Homage, Dry River, Council, Dionysus, Casa Agria, Craftsman, Sour Cellars, Pure Project, Highland Park Brewery, Mikkeller, Good Beer Co, Horus Aged Ales, Bruery Terruex, LB Beer Lab, Modern Times, Resident, CA Wild Ales, Brouwerij West, Smog City, and Phantom Carriage. You don’t see a collection of breweries like this all too often, and Cellador rarely opens their doors to the public, so there’s no reason for you to skip out on this one.
