This Week in LA Beer: A Very Pliny Valentine’s Day (Feb 10th – Feb 16th)
Welcome to This Week in LA Beer, a bite-sized look at some of the things we think are worth paying attention to this week around the Los Angeles craft beer community.
7th Annual Los Angeles IPA Festival.
The 7th Annual Los Angeles IPA Festival is coming up on Saturday, February 29th and we couldn’t be more stoked!
This is one of the premier hoppy events of the year and exclusively features some of the best West Coast IPAs produced in the state of California, all under one roof.
It’s all going down at Mohawk Bend in Echo Park on 2/29. No tickets needed, just show up and drink great beer. Doesn’t get much better than that.
#PLINYWATCH 2020 is here!
Ok guys, last week was just a warm-up. Younger kegs are now officially in SoCal and are getting tapped as soon as TOMORROW. Check out the guide below where we’re tracking as many as we possibly can, but are also sitting on a few under the radar tapping that will only be announced in real-time on our Instagram Stories (@HoppedLA – turn on notifications).
There’s a lot of grumbling this time of year about this beer being overhyped and not worth it so we’ll give you our official stance. Yes, the hype on this beer is high. But for good reason. It is DAMN GOOD. Dry, smooth, citrusy, and bitter, there are very few high gravity IPAs that pull off what Younger can pull off. No, it’s not worth waiting in any line more than 20-30 minutes for. That’s why we do this whole #PLINYWATCH thing. So you can find the tappings around you that might not get jammed up with tons of people and long lines. This beer is a craft beer institution and I firmly believe that every craft beer enthusiast should at least try and drink this beer at least once.
Ok, now that that’s out of the way, on to the guide.
