Meet Vine 39, Tarzana’s Newest Craft Beer & Wine Bar

Vine 39 bar at Whole Foods in TarzanaThose of you who are familiar with Whole Foods Markets know that they’ve shown an increasing focus on craft beer over the past couple years. While the Whole Foods Tarzana (Store #39) bar has been around for awhile, April 9th marked the relaunch of the space now known as Vine 39. WF Tarzana went all out for their relaunch, truly embracing the “Tarzan” roots rampant in Tarzana’s history, complete with rustic wood accents, a jungle-themed food menu, and tree vines hanging from the ceilings.

For the relaunch event, Vine 39 brought in reps from Ascendant Spirits, Figueroa Mountain Brewing Co, and Terravant Wine Co for some amazing beverage tastings as well as some tray-passed samples of their appetizers. Let me just say, Vine 39 is serving one of the craziest-looking plates of nachos that I’ve ever seen! They also brought in a 4 piece band called Private Cat Radio, set up on a raised stage and playing some upbeat tunes that they refer to as “gypsy jazz”. Not exactly my style, but I always appreciate live music and it definitely added a nice touch to the relaunch event.

As a “Hop Head” in every sense of the word, I wasn’t terribly impressed with the tap lineup on relaunch night, but I know the Vine 39 folks are great at bringing in awesome beers all the time, so if you dig craft beer in a convenient and comfortable setting, don’t write off Vine 39. I have a feeling this is just the beginning of a major boom for craft beer in the San Fernando Valley.
