Session Fest 2019 is RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!
Originally developed as an opportunity for Eagle Rock Brewery and Eagle Rock Public House staff to experience the brewing process by developing their own session beers, Session Fest has evolved into a community-wide celebration of craft beer and an exercise in experimentation. This year, we decided to open the festival to include other local craft breweries and their own session brews! And what’s more? Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the LA Brewers Guild, a local nonprofit representing Independent Brewers.
Drink beer for the greater good 😉
Tickets are $25 and include 5 pours of any of the available beers and a commemorative Session Fest glass! Sip away!
Wondering what the heck a session beer is, anyway??? Picture your go-to low-ABV, easy-drinking brew…but better! Session beers are meant to be consumed in larger quantities over extended periods of time (a sports event, for example), and are therefore low in alcohol – no more than 5% ABV – but high in flavor and complexity!
The history of session beers remains unclear, but they likely developed in early- or mid-20th century Britain to accommodate extended drinking “sessions” characteristic of local pub culture. The term “session beer” is now used in the craft beer world to describe a low-ABV beer that retains complex flavor and aroma.
