UNCANNED: Sublimely Self-Righteous Black IPA by Stone Brewing Co

The gargoyles at Stone Brewing Co have brought back the cult classic Sublimely Self-Righteous Black IPA in widespread distribution for the first time since 2015.

This beer was a mainstay in Gary’s drinking rotating back in the early 2010’s and man, was it amazing to dig back into this beer.

At 8.7%, Sublimely Self-Righteous is more of a Black Double IPA and amps up its roasty malt sweetness and its piney citrus hoppiness in a massive way to level things out.

For a hefty, aggressive beer, it drinks extremely clean and cohesive but with the big bold flavors that you’ve come to expect from Stone.

In our Black IPA tasting, Sublimely Self-Righteous took home the top spot for Gary’s favorite Black IPA of the bunch. If big hops and big roasty malts are up your alley, seek out this beer and make sure to buy as much as you can before it goes back into retirement!
