The first annual California Craft Brewers Cup was held on Thursday, September 12th and we’re stoked that twelve awesome Los Angeles brewers are taking home medals this year!

The California Craft Brewers Cup was put on in conjunction with the California Craft Brewers Association’s California Craft Beer Summit in Long Beach last week and is one of the largest craft beer competitions in the country.

With California now boasting over 1,000 breweries across the state, there’s more beer being brewed locally now than ever before and more local options for beer enthusiasts at the city-wide, country-wide, regional, and state-wide levels.

This first-year competition saw 1,267 beers from 194 breweries entered into 58 categories, plus awards for Brewers Guild of the Year, Brewery of the Year and Best in Show. No walk in the park!

Congratulations to ALL the winners and participating breweries. While winning a medal is a great accomplishment, it is by no means a prerequisite for brewing great beer. It just goes to show how robust the California craft brewing community is now, and how far Los Angeles has come as a compelling craft beer destination.

So while you’re out there drinking some of these 2019 CCBC award-winning beers around Los Angeles, you should also be purchasing beers from the dozens of other awesome LA breweries out there as well.

  1. How many breweries enters this? I am wondering how skewed this is. A lot of notable California breweries are missing from the list.
