#InsidetheBottleShop: Valley Beverage Company in Sherman Oaks
Ok, it’s July again. That time of year when we’re forced to get in our cars and brave the hundred degree temps as we make our commute home from work. And as anyone who’s lived in the south Valley knows, that stretch of the 101 around the 405 can be brutal. And this, my friends, is why you need to know about Valley Beverage Company.
Valley Beverage Company is situated right on the corner of Kester and Ventura, they have an awesome selection of wine and spirits, and they’ve been doing it since 1953. Oh and did I mention that they have one of the best selections of craft beer in the Valley? Basically, they’re the perfect place to get some relief from the freeway and make sure you’ve got something cold and hoppy to come home to.
Ever since I moved back to LA in 2012, Valley Bev Co. has been one of my go-to spots to pick up some beers. They’ve got a solid showing of all styles from many different kinds of breweries around the country and a great imported beer selection as well. But these days it’s all about drinking local, and Valley Bev Co. makes doing that super easy.
You’ll see some good depth on So Cal breweries like Mother Earth, The Bruery, Strand, Eagle Rock, El Segundo, and Figueroa Mountain. Not to mention, they’re one of the few spots around the Valley that gets Russian River! (Shhh you didn’t hear it from me…)
Tip: Follow them on Instagram for updates on new beers they get in stock.
It’s really a no frills kind of place, in an awesome vintage building, with a killer craft beer selection. Stop there when you’re in traffic, or stop there when you’re not in traffic. But please, just save some beer for me, ok?
